I know this is a late comment, but I have followed all the directions and still seem to get this error messsage after creating new volumes for mounting - mount: exec /Library/Filesystems/HFS+.fs/Contents/Resources/mount_HFS+ for /Volumes/New: No such file or directory mount: /Volumes/New failed with 72 Does this mean that my drive is toast and have to hire a pro? Its all my past business data and im hoping to mount it for a backup so i can move on! Any help would be very appreciated thank you all.

hey ! can you help? when I type diskutil list and press enter and NOTHING happens on my M1. When I go close it it opens a window and says "Do you want to terminate running processes in this window?" and even if I go back and don't terminate nothing happens. I have used Diskutil command in the past with no issues. If I open Disk Utitlity it will open a spinning wheel. My external opens normally on my other Macbook. help?!?!?

If it doesn’t show and you have a lot of data, just wait several hours with the external plugged in and it could just show up normally! This has been my exp and someone else’s I believe as well. So sometimes it’s just really a matter of waiting a significant amount of time! Like just leave it plugged in and the computer on for several hours, come back, and boom there it is! InshaAllah (God-willing) 😊

You're freakin AWESOME!! THANK YOU!!! I needed to get some files off a Windows SSD (it was formatted in windows too) that for some reason can't be read in Windows but it can in Mac OS and I needed the AppData folder. This worked great!! Just a note, you didn't put it into the video description.

Hello. Great information, but I tried both commands on my external LaCie drive (diskutil unmountDisk force /Volumes/LaCie-2) and ( diskutil unmountDisk force /dev/disk4) and both fail to unmount the external drive so I can run FirstAid. I also tried using the actual Disk Utility application but it failed to run First Aid because it couldn't unmount the volume. What can I do now to fix this assuming this is still possible? My Mac (M1, SSD internal drive, running Monterey.)

I'd watched half a dozen other videos that ranged from changing a connection cable to simply using Disk Utility but this video solved my issue. The list command prompted the hard drive to appear in Disk Utility so I didn't have to go futher that that, but it was great to see my drive pop up there. Thank you

I own an iMac 27" late 2013 which I've replaced its internal HDD (1 To) by a Crucial SSD (2 To). It does have an internal SDD (128 Go) which was meant to work with HDD as Fusion drive technology. Is there any interest to now map or fusion drive two SDD's which are inside my iMac (pros and cons) ?
